Buying a car

7 months ago I purchased a 2005 Saturn Vue from CarMax. Did you know you can buy a lemon from them and they will very politely say, "tough luck"?

Yes, you can. I did. CarMax came highly recommended so I went to them instead of the car places near where I live. The car broke down 2 weeks ago and needed a new transmission. The shop that replaced it told me it was the third transmission put into that car. At 65,000 miles that means that approximately every 21,000 miles I'll need to replace the transmission. I spoke to the service dept manager at CarMax and he told me that if I just have the transmission serviced every 25,000 miles, it should be just fine. So, if it makes it to 25,000 miles I assure you, I will. GM, the company that made the transmission made me a brilliant offer. They will give me, wait for it, $5,000 for the car instead of a new transmission. The car, which I bought for $13,000 in Aug. is listed everywhere now for $7,000. Add $2,000 to the $13,000 which is what the maintenance agreement cost I'll only be out $8,000 not counting the 6 payments I've already paid.
