October

I can't believe I've been so busy that two months have gone by since I wrote last. I'm learning so many things about my new website and working (so far) full time and of course spending time with my family.
I attended the Women's Herbal Conference in August and had the opportunity to learn so much about Lyme disease, with which many of my family and friends and acquaintances have been afflicted.  There is a way to curb it if not cure it with herbs. An herbalist named Wendy Snow Fogg is extremely  knowlegeable about it and we are beginning treatment in my family. There is a tincture and a tea that Wendy has put together that really tastes good as well as being medicinal.
I took a class with Nancy Phillips and learned to make a salve, throat lozenges and powdered capsules; it was amazing and a real eye opener. I've always gone to alternative medicine in the past and now have learned many more ways to successfully make non-chemical relief for things like colds, sore throats, burns, cuts, lyme disease, etc. It's a really good feeling to know that the cure isn't worse than the affliction.
My daughter and I just took part in a health and wellness fair in our town and even though it rained all day, we had a great time speaking with people about our line of nutrition and green cleaning products . The grandkids joined us and we had a wet but fun family and community day.

Learning about the new Shaklee FastTrack bonus plan.

Well this new FastTrack Bonus Plan is very exciting and not as difficult to understand as I first thought. In fact it's very easy to get people to look at the business and if they are interested, sign them up and send them to the proper sites for their training. If they're not, file their name for a follow up with the products which everyone who loves the planet and their family should be using.
The ITrack system, daunting at first also, is wonderful and amazing; it's almost like having a secretary. This I can get used to fast.lol

St. Louis Convention

We had the best time in St Louis at the Shaklee Convention. Just being around people that are on the same page about health and wellness is invigorating. I picked up some great info while I was there about aspartame, etc. The best thing was that I came back with the knowledge that I can now really make my business grow and help others to do the same with the newest ways to earn bonuses.
If you have a few minutes and would like to here more just click on my links to see what Shaklee is all about. I've been with them for almost 30 years and have never had a complaint.

Cheryl the carpenter

I was so happy when I got my new computer last week but then realized I really had no place to put it. So I took an old wooden closet I've had forever and built some shelves in it. At last I have a place to put my program disks and my computer together where they won't get lost. I had bought extra wood figuring I'd make mistakes (I did!) but had enough left over for some shelves in my closet where there was lots of wasted space. THEN I had to clean out the closet (go figure), so, did I get to use my new computer? Very briefly. One thing I know for sure is that when they say measure twice and cut once, they mean it. My workshop is in the basement and the computer closet is on the second floor so I got enough exercise to skip the gym this weekend. This morning I woke up with a pain in my neck (I know, I know) and couldn't go to work where I'd never have to work as hard as I did this weekend.
I've recently signed up for two classes to help me to learn to use my digital camera that I've owned for almost two years and they both canceled. Then I found a tutorial on the Nikon website that in 5 minutes taught me several things I never knew how to do; it's amazing what you can learn online. I learned a few weeks ago how to make a tincture with the herbs that grow like weeds in my back yard and are so much better for you than the medicines in the drug store. You can get relief from rashes, bites, fevers, stress and sooooo much more without exposing yourself or your family to toxic chemicals that the big drug companies charge you an arm and a leg for (unless you live in Canada that is).

July 2009

I'm so excited! My new refurbished computer has been shipped and will arrive while I'm in New Hampshire. I haven't had access to my old computer for quite a while; thank goodness for my laptop. The picture (if this works) is of me in my Shaklee 'office' out back. We actually had a day with no rain and I did get some work done but mostly kept jumping up to pull weeds.
When I was in York Beach I met another Shaklee person from Maine, Trici, who is very much into herbs and kept mentioning lavender oil. Needless to say I was intrigued and ordered some once I got home. It arrived yesterday and I'm busily dotting it on all boo boos, etc. If nothing else, I smell nice and I'm amazingly calm. On the internet it said pretty much what Trici said (thank you very much Trici) It is antibacterial and antiviral, lowers blood pressure and relieve headaches and migranes. Helps with rashes, acne, dermatitis and excema, soothes scrapes and burns and sunburn. Everyone should have a bottle of lavender oil in their home. Very important though, lavender oil should not be taken internally. The flowers, I think are use in teas and such. I'll be researching lavender in great detail now.

Summer activities

My herb garden is surviving the rain although I've had to prop up some of them like the valerian and angelica stalks. The slugs look large and healthy this year; I'm having nightmares about them.
Saturday I made myself proud by preparing my first tincture from the comfrey leaves. Then I got scared and didn't make one from the St. Johns Wort. Are there any experts on this out there in blog land?
Summer weekends have filled up until there are almost none left to just do nothing and enjoy the backyard under my new pagoda built by my oldest son. Just wait til I learn how to post pictures on this site; have you seen pictures of my grandchildren?
We went to York Beach, Maine last weekend and although everyone else had rain we had a beautiful sunny day and I still have sunburn to prove it. Next weekend back to Alton, NH to visit with my mom and family; looks like it'll be a washout but at least I won't be in the office.
At 61 with no retirement in sight, I have set my mind to making a good living with a social marketing company, Shaklee, because I've been using the products for almost 30years and have sent other people to my upline to buy products during those years.
About 3 years ago I knew I had to do something to be able to enjoy life after 65 and after discussing this with my daughter we decided to go for it. It has been a lot of fun, sometimes frustrating, but always there is a good feeling of helping people to be healthier. Once I made up my mind to really focus on building a business, I have had a paycheck every month; the first one was about $32. lol They are bigger now but not enough to leave my job just yet. Meanwhile I still have fun going to meetings and conventions and just talking to people about healthy living.
So, last month I joined the local gym and I'm stronger already; I can't wait to see what I'll be like in 6 months.
